Hello! I am Marisa. Geographically I have lived all my life in South America. I was born and raised in Montevideo, Uruguay and I moved to Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, with my Family when I was 19. I got married here and have two wonderful kids so my life and place is where I have settled. But my home is pretty much the entire planet.
My profession - I am a tourism journalist, a writer and an environmentalist (and a vegetarian)- allows me to travel quite a lot and I have been to other continents as well over the years. Anyplace I visit I try to connect with nature, even in larger cities where it is almost impossible to find a green park or lake. If it is a seaside city, much better, as I have always been very attached to the sea. Montevideo is surrounded by Rio de la Plata which happens to be one of the largest rivers in the world. Porto Alegre is surrounded by Lake Guaiba and it’s very beautiful as well. So I try to go to the shore and, even being far away from home, I know the ocean will take me back where I belong.
I have photographed some pretty nice sights during my travels and I am adding some to the photo gallery to show how I try to “feel at home” even being far away geographically.
